The Doenges Toyota Indians split their home opener Wednesday night against Tulsa Barons Gold at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium.

The Indians won game one, 5-3, they lost game two, 10-2.

Bartlesville put together instant offense in the first inning. The Indians got runs thanks to a triple from Rhett Leu, singles from Grant Goldman and Henry Calderon, and the first homerun of the summer by Coen Miller.

Bartlesville scored all of their runs in game one in the first inning and hung on for the win.

In game two, offense didn't come as easy for the Indians. Fielding took an ucharacteristic negative turn and the Tribe finished the game without a hit. Bartlesville committed eight errors on defense. Only one of the 10 runs the Barons scored was earned.

One bright spot in game two was the pitching. Lathe Griggs, Sterling Kroh and Zane Stricklin combined for eight strikeouts. Griggs led the way with five, including this one to get out of a bases loaded jam in the first.

The split puts Bartlesville at 2-2 in D-BAT league play and 8-2 on the summer. They are back in action next Monday for another doubleheader against Tulsa Barons Gold back at O'Brien Park. First pitch is set for 5:30 p.m.
