Lady Bruin Tennis Heads to 6A State

Bartlesville High girls tennis heads to 6A State on Friday, as the Lady Bruins should have another great chance to get into the top-five in Oklahoma.

BHS won a Regional championship on Monday at Tulsa Union. Bartlesville had about half of its varsity roster debut as full-time players this spring.

Head coach Bryan Reece says a good start at Regionals earlier this week likely settled some nerves for BHS.

Abby Shelley at No. 1 singles will still have a shot at a 6A State title individually, but it is not going to be easy. Shelley enters State as the east-side Regional champ and the No. 2 seed in 6A.

Abby has only one loss this year, to the one-seed, a senior who’s at Bixby and is a Jenks transfer.

Reece talks about Shelley’s season.

Good luck to Lady Bruin Tennis, BHS will be at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center both Friday and Saturday for the event. Bartlesville left for the tournament on Thursday.
