Dewey Athletic Director Travis Ruble talks about the competitive nature of each program.

One common theme that played out in Dewey this season was the amount of seniors in almost every sport. Ruble talks about the role the senior class played in Dewey's overall success this year.

Things started in the fall, when Dewey volleyball qualified for the state tournament for the first time in program history in Hailey Harris' second season as head coach. The Lady Bulldoggers, after winning just 11 matches last season, finished with an overall record of 23-8.

In Scott Sapulpa's first season as head coach of the football team, Dewey finished one win shy of a playoff spot with a 4-6 season. The win total is the most for Dewey football since they made the playoffs in 2019.

On the softball field, with multiple players already committed to play softball in college, with two committed to play at the Division I level. The Lady Bulldoggers finished 29-9 overall and hosted a regional. The Lady Bulldoggers went undefeated in their district.

Over the winter season, both basketball teams finished a combined 15-1 in Northeast Valley Conference play, with the Bulldogger boys winning the conference championship outright. The Lady Bulldoggers finished 7-1 in conference play, tied with Caney Valley (OK) for the top spot. The boys won every conference game by double digits. The Dewey boys basketball team finished 24-4, the Lady Bulldoggers finished 19-10. Each team was one win away from the area tournament.

Before spring sports kicked up, Kyla Overton, one of the softball standouts who will continue her career at the University of Central Arkansas, won a state championship in powerlifting.

Over the spring, Dewey baseball made history with their first appearance in the 3A state tournament since 2014. The Bulldoggers won 30 games and finished with an overall record of 30-10.

On the golf course, boys golfer Chase Creek and girls golfer Leigha Sauret qualified for the 3A state tournament.

On the track, the Bulldoggers and Lady Bulldoggers took home five state championships at the 3A state meet earlier this month in Catoosa. The Lady Bulldoggers finished sixth as a team overall and the Bulldoggers finished fourth overall at the meet.

With a loaded senior class across many sports departing, Ruble talks about the mindset going into next season.

A handful of stellar athletes, led by Londyn Bond, a state champion in track and field and has committed to Texas Tech to continue her softball career, and state champion track runner Kavery Weathers, return next season.
