OKWU Hoops Splits With Bethany in Rematch

Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball wrapped up a three-game homestand on Saturday with a split against Bethany College.
 
The Lady Eagles lost a lead in the fourth quarter and fell, 60-53, the Eagles dominated, 89-57.
 
In the women's game, the Lady Eagles never trailed until the fourth quarter. They opened things up on a 7-0 run and led by as many as 10 points early in the contest. Ashlyn Baker led the way offensively early with three three-pointers in the first quarter.
 
Baker finished with nine.
 
OKWU maintained a seven point lead going into the fourth quarter before going cold offensively. The Lady Eagles made just two shots in the fourth and got outscored 21-7.
 
The loss drops the Lady Eagles to 7-15 overall and 3-13 in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC).
 
On the men's side, the Eagles got hot on offense early. After allowing an 8-0 run at the midpoint of the first to trail by one, OKWU responded with a 30-13 swing to lead 50-34 at halftime.
 
OKWU's defense led the way in the second half, holding Bethany to just 23 points. On offense, this three-pointer from Ethan Williams helped put the game away.
 
Williams led the way with 17 points.
 
The Eagles have won 10 straight. They are 20-2 overall and 15-1 in the KCAC.
 
Both OKWU clubs return on Wednesday to start a three-game road trip against Southwestern (KS). The Lady Eagles will get the evening started at 5 p.m. with the men to follow around 7 p.m.
