Day one of the Mike Kerr Classic in Morrison went exactly how the Pawhuska Huskies and Lady Huskies had hoped it would go. The guys escaped in a low scoring game with Okmulgee and the Lady Huskies cruised to a 31-point win over Oklahoma Christian Academy.

On the guys side, Pawhuska came away with a 41-38 victory. The largest lead for either team was five points. With Pawhuska leading by one with a minute remaining, this bucket in transition helped extend the Husky lead.

Following a missed shot by the Bulldogs, Pawhuska got the rebound with 15 seconds left and the Huskies were able to dribble out the clock, as Okmulgee was unable to commit a foul before time expired.

Jaden Spicer was the lone Husky in double figures, as he finished with 11 points. Eight different players scored for Pawhuska.

On the girls side, it was all Pawhuska from the opening tip. Pawhuska got a 57-26 win, but led 14-2 at the end of the first quarter and 29-8 at halftime.

Brooklyn Miles had 20 points in the first half, most of those coming off turnovers she created defensively. Here is the first of those easy lay-ups Miles was able to get thanks to her hard work on defense.

Miles finished with 24 points. Mylee Jenson was also in double figures with 11. Thursday was Katie Drummond's first game back following surgery on her arm in mid-December.

With both teams winning, both teams will play Frontier in the winners bracket on Friday. The Lady Huskies will play at 4:20 p.m. and the guys will follow. Those games can be heard on 99.1 FM KPGM and audio coverage will be available at KPGMTV.com.
