Vibes High at First Bruin Football Practice

Bartlesville High football had its first official practice for fall camp on Monday under first-year head coach Matt Hennesy.
The Bruins have four weeks to prepare for their opener against Skiatook on Aug. 28.
The first hour from 5:30-6:30 was on the turf at Custer Stadium. The last 1.5 hours were on the practice fields east of the football facility, to accommodate the band’s usual morning practice time.
Hennesy says the vibes were high on day one.
Hennesy noted that the energy ought to be high on the first day of practice. The real test of Bartlesville’s culture shift will be later this week and month when practices start to become a grind.
Hennesy says the test is if the Bruins can keep good energy when things get tougher.
Bartlesville will have practice in the mornings for the entirety of the 2026 season, with some exceptions.
Scrimmages and other preseason milestones are coming up in the next few weeks. Bruin football will air this fall on KWON – AM 1400, FM 93.3 and 95.1.
