Cost a Concern for Osage County Courthouse Annex

Prior to Everett Piper and Charlie Cartwright being elected to their respective positions as county commissioners in Osage County, their predecessors, along with District Two Commissioner Steve Talburt had secured a bond of 10.5 million dollars to construct an annex at the Osage County Courthouse.
Piper, who represents District One and Cartwright, who represents District Three, both said if the cost to construct the annex is more than the 10.5 million dollar bond, than they would not vote for it. Piper, who was appointed by the Board to lead the charge regarding overseeing the courthouse annex designs, quickly realized they were coming in over budget.
At Monday’s Board meeting, the commissioners made a partial payment to AIP Architecture for drawings that they completed to get a better understanding of how much it would cost to construct the annex.
The Board also took action on voting yes to a resolution ahead of a special meeting scheduled for Friday afternoon.
Friday’s meeting is slated to take place at 2:30 p.m. in the women’s building at the Osage County Fairgrounds in Pawhuska. The public is welcome to attend.
