Panthers Aim to go 1-0 in District Play, Improve on 5-0 Start

The Barnsdall Panthers have started out 5-0 on the season for the first time in Coach Kylee Sweeney's eight years as Panther head coach after getting a 32-20 win over Wetumka last Friday. Barnsdall now sets its eyes on district play starting Thursday night with a home game against Pioneer Pleasant Vale, a team that graduated four players last year who went on to play college football.
Over the summer, quarterback Maverick Lamphear had to have Tommy John surgery and doctors believed he would be out through football and basketball season, but Sweeney said he recently received some good news.
Sweeney expects the team to be fully healthy heading into Thursday evening's game and says a win could set up a district championship with Regent Prep next week.
