State Commission Approves Grant for New, Large Hanger at Bartlesville Airport

Big developments at Bartlesville Municipal Airport are paving the way for building a large hanger that could attract another aircraft maintenance repair overhaul company to the city.
The Oklahoma Aerospace and Aeronautics Commission approved a $2 million grant Wednesday to assist in constructing a 120 foot by 130 foot box hanger at the airport. The total cost of the program is just over $5 million, with $3 million of the cost coming from the Bartlesville Development Authority.
BDA Vice President of Business Development Chris Batchelder says the grant is a big win for Bartlesville's future in the aerospace maintenance sector.
Batchelder says the new hanger will belong to the city of Bartlesville and BDA will lease the space until a suitable MRO company is found. The new hanger is paired with a $2 million taxiway and apron improvement that wrapped up in May. Ninty-five percent of that cost was covered by another grant from the commission.
Batchelder says the two combined projects are going to be very attractive to aircraft repair companies, allowing Bartlesville to take-off and soar in the ever-growing aviation industry in Oklahoma.
