Drivers in Bartlesville may notice several ongoing road projects this summer, including major maintenance on local streets and improvements to Adams Boulevard (Highway 60).

Appearing on KWON Radio's CITY MATTERS program on Monday, City Engineer Micah Siemers said, "The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) recently completed a temporary resurfacing of Adams Boulevard between Highway 75 and the area near the Research Center. While the repairs have improved drivability, the fix is short-term."

A full reconstruction of that stretch of Adams Boulevard is scheduled to begin in 2027, delayed from its original 2025 start due to funding and design challenges. The project will include new sidewalks and updates to utility infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the City of Bartlesville is conducting its own preventative maintenance on several heavily traveled roads. The multi-phase project includes crack sealing, a thin chip-seal-style overlay, a protective HA5 sealant, and new striping. The goal is to extend the life of the roads by protecting them from sun and water damage.

“These aren’t full reconstructions,” Siemers explained. “They’re meant to seal and preserve the roads to delay more costly repairs in the future.”

For updates on local road work, residents can contact the City of Bartlesville or visit ODOT for state highway project details.
