Negotiations between the City of Bartlesville and the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 200 for a 2025-26 Fiscal Year contract continues and my go to arbitation.

Appearing on KWON's CITY MATTERS program on Monday, Bartlesville city manager Mike Bailey said the dispute centers around two issues, with the City seeking changes in the Fire Department's promotional process and double-time pay received by firefighters who work unscheduled overtime.

The city wants a merit-based promotion process while the union wishes to keep promotions based on seniority. Bailey says the issue of double-time pay coupled with excessive sick time usage is costing the city hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Bailey remains hopeful that a deal can be struck sooner rather than later.
