Ray of Hope Talks National Domestic Violence Awareness Month

All persons have the right to live without fear, abuse, oppression, violence, and child abuse. There should be equality in relationships and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking should be helped to assume power over their own lives. This is part of the philosphy of Ray of Hope Advocacy Center in Bartlesville.
Appearing on COMMUNITY CONNECTION, Ray of Hope's Executive Director Rhonda Hudson and Domestic Violence Program Manager Shelbi Kreder talked about the problem during National Domestic Violence Month. Shelbi said, "In Bartlesville alone, one on four women and one in seven men are victims of domestic violence."
Rhonda said, "Domestic violence is a pattern of behaviors used to gain or maintain power and control over a partner in an intimate relationship. Every relationship is different, but if you see any of these early warning signs, you may be a risk for domestic violence." She added, "If you need help, please call our 24-hour hotline at 918-214-8886. If you are in immediate danger or in a life-threatening situation, please call 911."
Shelbi reminded listeners and viewers that Ray of Hope Advocacy Center is an Oklahoma Attorney General certified program, offering comprehensive intervention and prevention services to men, women, and children affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking in Washington, Nowata, and portions of Osage County.
Ray of Hope is a non-profit agency. They are hosting their annual Hops for Hope fundraiser on Saturday, November 1, at the hangar at Bartlesville Municipal Airport. For more details, CLICK HERE
