Lady Bruins Win Regional Opener

For the first time in seven years Bartlesville High girls’ basketball is headed to the Area Tournament, as BHS knocked off Owasso in the first round of the 6A Regionals on Thursday night.
The Lady Bruins beat the Lady Rams, 55-51 to advance to face Muskogee in the Regional title game on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 PM.
BHS rallied from 11 points down in the second quarter to take the lead early in the third and never look back. Owasso would make it a game down the stretch, this Sami Sheaffer bucket with only seconds remaining put the Lady Bruins up four.
Up by three with less than 10 seconds left, a Kenzie Denny free throw and subsequent steal would end up sealing the deal for Bartlesville.
Sheaffer led the way for BHS with 20.
The BHS girls improve to 15-9 with the win.
They will face Muskogee Saturday afternoon at 3:30 for the Regional title on KWON - AM 1400, FM 93.3 and 95.1.
Bartlesville will move to next weekend’s Area Tournament regardless of the result.
