Bartlesville Football Heads to Piedmont

High school football playoffs on tap across northeast Oklahoma and southeast Kansas, as several local teams are going to be in action on Friday evening.

At Bartlesville High, the Bruins will be going for their third playoff win in the past four seasons, as BHS travels to Piedmont to take on the Wildcats in the first round of the 6A-II postseason.

Bartlesville enters at 3-7 and squeezed into the playoffs as the five-seed out of its District. Piedmont is 7-3 and the Wildcats had a chance at a District title going into Week 10.

BHS has won three of its last four, as Bartlesville’s schedule eased at the end of the year. Head coach Harry Wright says he hopes that gives his team a chance to be crisp.

Bartlesville has won a playoff game in two of the past three seasons, but only during this first round of the expanded format.

Piedmont is a recent addition to 6A-II, as the Oklahoma City metro continues to sprawl north. The Wildcats are in their second season in the class. They will run an offense that looks like the triple option.

Wright talks about what a playoff victory against Piedmont, or multiple victories this postseason, would mean to the Bruin program.
