Bartlesville Girls Begin 6A Regionals Tuesday

Bartlesville High girls' basketball is on the road in Owasso taking on Bixby in the first round of the 6A playoffs on Tuesday night.

Different than years before, this will be a non-elimination contest. BHS will move to a winner’s or loser’s bracket game in Regional play on Friday depending upon the outcome of the first-round game on Tuesday night.

Bartlesville has lost three in a row to some of the best in 6A. Losses to Edmond North, Owasso and Sand Springs ended a stretch where the Bruins had won seven of eight. However, after injuries early this season, Bartlesville is at full strength once again.

Head coach Justyn Shaw talks about the positives of having a full lineup available for the postseason.

Bixby will be a challenge, but it is a winnable game for BHS. The Spartans enter at 17-6 overall. Despite being Conference-mates, the two teams have not played this year and do not have many common opponents.

Shaw says Bixby will be a tough out.

With a win Bartlesville will face the winner of Owasso-Muskogee on Friday afternoon. With a loss, BHS would face the loser between the Rams and Roughers in an elimination contest on Friday, as well.
