Bartlesville Travels to Tahlequah in District Battle

At Bartlesville High, the Bruin football team will make a longer road trip to Tahlequah to take on the Tigers in a battle for fourth place in 6A-II District 1 in Week 10 action on Friday night - with some pretty big stakes.

With a win over the Tigers Bartlesville will host a playoff game next week. With a loss, the Bruins will have to go on the road in the first round.

Despite losing three in a row, Bartlesville has been playing solid football. The Bruins lost to the District’s three best teams by a combined 10 points the past three weeks.

Bartlesville’s defense has been a big difference. The Bruins are giving up 10-points-per-game less this season than a year ago against the same schedule.

Head coach Harry Wright talks about the Bartlesville defense.

Should the Bruins win, next week’s home playoff game would be the first for BHS since its run in the 2015 6A-II state tournament.

Wright says hosting a game would be a big deal for the program.

Bartlesville and Tahlequah have the same overall record at 3-6, the same District record at 3-3, and have lost to and beaten the same District opponents.

A 7:00 kick with a 6:30 pregame from Doc Wadley Stadium, home of the Northeastern State Riverhawks, on KWON – AM 1400, FM 93.3 and 95.1.
