Bruin Tennis Set for State

To tennis, Bartlesville High kicks off its 6A State meet on Friday morning at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center. The Bruins left for OKC on Thursday.

Owen May was Regional champion after a good performance on Monday, crowning him best on the east side of the state.

With May’s victory, Bruin tennis owns both the girls and guy’s east side Regional champ, as Abby Shelley won that title on the lady’s side last week.

Head coach Bryan Reese talks about that accomplishment for those athletes and the program.

Different type of meet for May this weekend vs. Shelley last week, as May is a senior. Shelley is just a sophomore.

Reese says he has decided to not play tennis in college, so the next two days will be the final hurrah of May’s tennis career.

As mentioned after Regionals, the No. 1 doubles team of Johnny Colmenero and Carson Covington will have a chance at the podium this weekend, as well.
