Bruins Split with Rejoice in Final DH

Bartlesville High basketball split its final regular season double-header on Tuesday night in Owasso at 3A Rejoice Christian, as BHS has one final boys’ game before the playoffs.
The Lady Bruins got back on track after a tough senior night loss to Stillwater.
BHS blitzed Rejoice, 54-35.
After falling behind at the end of the first quarter, a switch into a zone defense and full-court pressure flipped the game on its head. Bartlesville forced multiple turnovers to get easy baskets at the other end.
Sami Sheaffer and Shaylyn Ishem were the heroes. Both finished in double-figures. This steal led to an Ishem layup at the end of the third quarter.
Sheaffer finished with 23. Ishem 12.
The win moves BHS to 14-9, which is one more win than the Lady Bruins had last season.
On the guy’s side a hot shooting Rejoice team ran away with a 78-52 win.
The Eagles made six threes in the first quarter. Then Bartlesville had trouble holding onto the ball. Turnovers made it tough for BHS to ever battle back.
Dennis Duncan had his best night of the season offensively, scoring 23 points. This three stopped a Rejoice run late in the first.
BHS would cut a 21-point Rejoice lead down to 15, but that is as close as the Bruins would get. Bartlesville is 9-15 and will host Pryor on the guy’s side only on Monday before next week’s playoffs.
Playoff assignments will be out soon.
