Bartlesville High basketball had a tough night on the road in Oklahoma City on Tuesday, as the Lady Bruins and Bruins both fell to a couple of the best teams in the state in Putnam City North.

On the girl’s side early turnovers doomed BHS. Putnam City North would top the Lady Bruins 77-57.

Bartlesville hung around in the first 14 minutes, but a late flurry in the second quarter then early in the third from the Panthers put the writing on the wall.

Sami Shaeffer was again a bright spot. The senior scored a team-high 19 points, including three on this jumper that helped Bartlesville keep close late in the second.

Kenzie Denny earned player of the game honors for scoring 17 points all in the second half. The Bartlesville girls drop to 5-4 overall.

Meanwhile the Bruin guys really battled a star-studded PC North guys team. Panthers made the score look worse than it was, winning 67-38.

Despite the final 29-point margin, BHS spent most of the game within about 15 points of a Panther club that has not lost on Oklahoma soil.

Bartlesville outscored PC North in the third quarter and had the lead down to 13 multiple times. This jumper from Dennis Ducan drew BHS closer in the second half.

Trae Collins and Hunter Holmes both finished with 11 points to lead BHS. Bruin guys drop to 3-6.

Both clubs will next host the ConocoPhillips Arvest Invitational starting on Thursday night.
