Copan Boys Get Tough Draw in Districts
It is a short drive, but tough matchup for the Copan boys in the first round of the Class B playoffs.
The Hornets have also had a good regular season, standing at 16-6 entering Districts.
Head coach Kolton Stacy says he wants his club playing fast this postseason.
The OSSAA did Copan no favors sending the Hornets to Wesleyan Christian School. WCS is 2-0 against Copan with an average margin of victory of 31 points-per-game. With Copan at 10 games above .500, that is a tough draw before Regionals.
Stacy says it is nice to be close to home.
Copan will face Welch in the first round on Friday night at 6:00. If both Copan and WCS win on Friday they will meet up in the District championship game on Saturday night.
The Welch contest is an elimination game for Copan. Should the Hornets lose they would be done for the season - win and the playoffs become double-elimination.
