Dewey baseball cemented their spot to host a regional after a thrilling win on Tuesday night over Sperry.

The Bulldoggers completed the sweep over the Pirates with a 14-11 win.

Dewey trailed 3-0 early in the contest before striking for five runs in the third. A two-run triple from Nate Sloan gave Dewey their first lead of the night. Sperry responded with three of their own in the bottom of the third to hop back in front, 6-5.

Sperry held a one run lead until the top of the fifth when Dewey struck for four more runs. A two-run single from Layne Gastel put Dewey back in front, followed by a Mason Snellgrove double and a sacrifice fly from Jackson Fox to put Dewey in front, 9-6.

The Bulldoggers carried a four run lead into the seventh inning and stretched it to seven going into the bottom of the seventh. Sperry struck for four runs in the bottom of the seventh, all with two outs, to make things interesting. The Pirates left the tying run at the plate to end the game.

After scoring 19 runs in a dominant win over Sperry on Monday, head coach Riley Allen says depth at the plate has made a difference.

Dewey finishes district play with a record of 12-2 overall, guaranteeing a top two finish in 3A district 7. The Bulldoggers will stay on the road for Cleveland on Thursday at 5 p.m.
