Huskies Outlast Hominy in Battle of the Osage

The Pawhuska Huskies earned a hard fought 44-27 victory over the Hominy Bucks on Friday night. A balanced attack of quarterback Kane Foreman and running back Vann Wildcat proved to be the difference, especially late in the second half, as they were co-players of the week.

Trailing 7-6 in the first quarter, Pawhuska faced a third and long, but Foreman found Corlin Cass on a delayed screen across the middle that went for nearly 50 yards.

The Bucks had a time consuming drive that resulted in a touchdown seconds before the first half came to a close. That trimmed the Pawhuska lead to 22-21. Coming out of the halftime break, a Logan Cass pooch kick set the tone for the remainder of the game.

The Huskies were unsuccessful in scoring on that drive, but they set up Hominy deep in their own territory. Following a Buck punt that set the Huskies up inside the Hominy 30, senior Jarek Edwards turned his first catch of the night into a touchdown from 11 yards out.

Leading by one score minutes into the fourth quarter, Pawhuska put a quality drive together that put the Huskies up two scores and all but halted any momentum Hominy had gained. Here is the final play of that series.

Pawhuska's defense only gave up one touchdown in the second half. The Huskies have now won two straight in the Battle of the Osage. Up next for Pawhuska is homecoming with Woodland on Friday. You can listen to that game on 99.1 FM KPGM and streaming on KPGMTV.com.
