Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball split a Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader on Wednesday night.

The Lady Eagles fell to Ottawa University, 56-50, the Eagles won a high-scoring battle, 90-81.

In the women's game, the Lady Eagles got down by as many as 21 points in the second quarter after a 23-0 Ottawa run. OKWU trailed at the half, 39-23.

The Lady Eagles tightened up defensively and started forming a comeback in the second half. OKWU outscored the Braves in the second half, 27-17. They allowed just seven points in the fourth quarter to stay in it.

In the final moments of the fourth, this three-pointer from Gracie Alexander got the Lady Eagles within striking distance.

That's as close as OKWU would get, as the Lady Eagles could not find the extra kick to tie the game or take the lead.

The Lady Eagles drop to 5-12 with the loss and 1-10 in the KCAC.

In the men's game, the Eagles got into a groove offensively and never cooled down. OKWU shot 58% from the field with four players in double figures. Yashi McKenzie was one of those players, adding this bucket through contact in the second half.

McKenzie finished with 20 points. Tamaje Izuagbe finished with a team-high 22 points.

OKWU stretched the lead as large as 20 points on multiple occasions before Ottawa cut into the deficit, but the Braves never cut the deficit inside nine points.

The win puts the Eagles at 15-2 overall and 10-1 in the KCAC. OKWU has won five straight and four conference games in a row.

Both Eagle clubs return on Saturday for a road contest against York University. The Lady Eagles will tip-off at 1 p.m. with the Eagle men to follow around 3 p.m.
