Oklahoma Wesleyan baseball opens up the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament in Joplin, Missouri on Wednesday.

OKWU enters the tournament as co-champions of the regular season title with Kansas Wesleyan, but the Eagles have the 1-seed and get the automatic bid into the NAIA postseason after beating KWU during the regular season. They finished 43-7 overall in the regular season and 30-6 in conference play.

OKWU wrapped up the regular season with a series win over Ottawa University last weekend.

Head coach Kirk Kelley says the series could've gone either way.

The Eagles will open the conference tournament against the 8-seed Avila University. Avila finished the regular season 20-25 and 17-19 in conference play. OKWU swept Avila when the two met in Kansas City in mid-March.

Kelley says Avila has some good hitters.

First pitch is set for 6:15 p.m. from Joe Becker Stadium in Joplin. This is a double-elimination tournament.

The Eagles are the defending KCAC tournament champions.
