Storms, Flood Risk and High Heat Expected Across Northeast Oklahoma

A series of weather threats are forecast across northeast Oklahoma through Saturday, including possible storms, flash flooding, and high heat.
Meteorologists report a slight chance of thunderstorms this afternoon into the evening, especially northwest of Interstate 44. While severe weather is limited, any storm development could bring strong winds and heavy rainfall. These storms are expected to weaken after sunset as daytime heating subsides.
Later tonight into Saturday morning, storm chances increase as a frontal boundary approaches the Oklahoma-Kansas border. High moisture levels will elevate the risk of flash flooding, prompting a Flood Watch from midnight through early Saturday afternoon for much of northeast Oklahoma and parts of far northwest Arkansas.
In addition, south to southwest winds will gust between 15 and 25 mph today before tapering off this evening. Heat index values will remain high, ranging from the mid-90s to just over 100 degrees, adding to the weather concerns.
