Bartlesville Celebrates 42nd Swim Title

Bartlesville High School has continued to celebrate its 42nd swim state championship, and first in five years, after the BHS girls won the title in Jenks on Saturday.

Bartlesville was able to blow out the competition after finishing second at state by half a point a year ago.

Head coach Chad Englehart says his team wanted to turn that disappointment a year ago into motivation this year.

Bartlesville will return both individual state champions and state record holders from Saturday’s meet next year in Anna Young and Emma Howze. However, it will be five seniors, whose names haven’t always been in the headlines this winter, that BHS will miss.

Englehart says this year’s senior class was vital in the state championship.

Englehart says seniors accounted for about 1/3 of Bartlesville’s relay points and a good chunk of individual points, as well.
