Spring sports had barely even started before most high school sports took this past week off for Spring Break in Northeast Oklahoma.

At Bartlesville High, the track and field team has had some major highlights through their first couple of meets in 2026.

The biggest accomplishment has come from Michael Taylor, who knocked down one of the first track and field records at Bartlesville High. He broke a record that had stood since 1983 in the 300m hurdles.

BHS head track and field coach David Ayres talks about Taylor in hurdles.

According to Ayres, Taylor has been working with Tracey Turner on a wide variety of competitions and his improvement, particularly in hurdles, has been stark.

Ayres talks more about the 43-year BHS record going down.

Bartlesville is going to be hosting its own track and field meet in just over a week at Custer Stadium. We will have more on that competition next week.
