Wesleyan Christian Boys Head to Area
The Wesleyan Christian School boys basketball team has made its first ever Area tournament following a loss to Frontier in the Mustang’s Regional title game on Saturday night.
Frontier beat WCS by 13 points to send Wesleyan Christian to the Class B Area I Consolation bracket.
Head coach Steven Cooks says his guys fought after digging themselves an early hole, but a bad start spoiled their chance at a Regional championship.
Wesleyan Christian has spent most of the year ranked in the top-15 of the state in Class B. WCS will now have to win three games over three days starting tomorrow to get to the Big House.
Cooks says he thinks his club is more than capable of pulling it off.
The journey begins tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 against Lomega from the Stride Bank Center in Enid.
A loss and the Mustangs’ season is over, a win and they would take on the winner between Timberlake and Balko on Friday in another elimination contest.
