The Washington County SPCA Board of Directors held their June meeting Wednesday evening, during which Committee leaders discussed what has been happening with the WCSPCA.

Deanna McDonald discussed SPCA shelter operations, and highlighted that the shelter is currently housing approximately 250 animals, the majority of which are cats or kittens. McDonald said that over the past several months the number of surrendered cats and kittens has continued to increase; in April the shelter received 52 animals, May 118, and as of the meeting Wednesday they have received 86 animals in June.

Many of the surrendered animals are pregnant cats or those with new litters many of which are in grave need to medical attention. McDonald reported it is costing the organization an average of $85 per cat, in medical need.

McDonald also stated the shelter was in need of a new washer, dryer, and push mower, and is looking for donations.

The Washington County SPCA will be holding a low cost spay/neuter this Saturday, June 25, call (918)766-0991 to schedule an appointment and visit http://www.wcspca.org/ for more information and online donation.
