Cherokee Area Council Receives Another Gold Rating

Cherokee Area Council President Dale Copeland gave his comments at the Boy Scout Banquet Dinner Thursday night at the Bartlesville Community Center. He said the Council had another successful year in 2018.
For the second straight year, the Cherokee Area Council has received another Gold Council Rating. Copeland said the second year is hard than the first year and it wouldn't have been possible without the hark work of many leaders across the council.
Nationally, 44 councils received the same Gold Rating. Only 5 scored higher than the Cherokee Area Council who finished in a six way tie for sixth place. Copeland says that put them in the top 4-percent nationally. He says part of that success comes from the growth in numbers the council has seen in the course of a year.
The Council ended 2018 with a 5.4-percent increase in Cub Scouts. He said there was three-tenths of a percent growth in their overall program. Copeland says they're proud of the positivt increase in numbers because that isn't always the case across the nation.
Copeland says the Cherokee Area Council Boy Scouts of America is important to our local youth and the communities in the 6 counties they serve.
