Several items involving the Tower Center at Unity Square project were presented and approved at Monday night’s meeting of the Bartlesville City Council. The council approved the creation of a cultural district for the City of Bartlesville.

Managing director of the Bartlesville Community Center Val Callaghan spoke in support of the resolution.

The district would include the Price Tower, Tower Center at Unity Square, Bartlesville Community Center, Bartlesville Art Association and the library.

Also, Leadership Bartlesville Class 27 and the Bartlesville Young Professionals presented a donation of $20,000 to the council. The funds will be used to purchase large-sized outdoor instruments that will be installed throughout the community space. Another agenda item was approved regarding a lease operating agreement between the city and community center for the management, maintenance and operation of the space.

The councils also awarded several bids. The first of which was awarded to Contech of Broken Arrow for $346,000 as a part of the Stonewall and Shawnee pavement rehabilitation. Another bid was awarded to Radio Communication Specialists for $27,000 for 35 portable radios.

City council proclamations included Donate Life Month, E911 Professionals week, Arbor Day and National Day of Prayer.
