Baseball is a back for a Bartlesville team as the Doenges Ford Indians will play a season opening doubleheader in Fort Smith, Arkansas on Saturday. The summer baseball season hit a gray area amid the coronavirus pandemic but action taken recently by the OSSAA has allowed the season to start without hardly any time lost.

John Pannell returns to head the team—he managed the Indians previously from 2000 to 2010. Bartlesville struggled last season but a revamped Bruins presence should aid their efforts this summer. 15 current or former BHS athletes will make up this year’s squad along with a couple of Caney Valley players. Pannell is happy with the mix of guys of this year’s squad.

The Indians will play Fort Smith at 2 p.m. and Bryant, Arkansas at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Then on Sunday, Bartlesville will square up with Texarkana and Fort Smith’s junior team. You can listen to all four games on KWON AM 1400—FM 93.3.
