The Nowata County Commissioners held a brief meeting on Monday morning. Nowata County emergency management director Laurie Summers told the commissioners that Oklahoma Emergency Management emailed her last week to alert the department that it would be in charge of distributing personal protective equipment to schools in the county. Summers talks about the situation.

With just one small vehicle Nowata County Emergency Management is not equipped to distribute the PPE to three different school districts. The commissioners said they would be willing to work with the department to help in its logistical challenges.

Last week Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt pledged $10 million of CARES Act funding to supplying Oklahoma schools with PPE.
