Sheriff's Office is Investigating Shooting Incident

A shooting incident occurred in the late night hours on Tuesday and the Washington County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
According to Sheriff Scott Owen, the incident occurred at 4025 Road and West 2400 Road (the Old Moose Lodge Road) between Oglesby and the New Harmony Baptist Church. He said a homeowner in the area noticed a suspicious vehicle stopping in front of homes, so he followed the vehicle before calling law enforcement.
The homeowner followed the suspicious driver and saw the vehicle back into a driveway near 2400 Road. Sheriff Owen said the truck came out of the driveway and passed the homeowner. He said the suspicious driver was seen with a shotgun hanging out of the window of the vehicle.
Sheriff Owen said the driver went thirty to fifty yards before firing the shotgun. He said the shot that was fired was not a direct shot but it was still fired at the homeowner’s direction. He said this concerns the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
At the time of the incident, there was no damage done to the complainant’s truck. Sheriff Owen added that there were no injuries in the incident. He said that they believe that the suspect was shooting in the direction of the complainant only to scare him off, but even, they want to get this individual off the road as quickly as possible.
The driver of the vehicle is believed to be a white male with a small to medium build. Sheriff Owen said they believe the suspect might be wearing a black or dark cap. He said the driver was driving an early 2000 Chevrolet 1500 series extended cab truck that is gray or pewter in color with a tag number of 17Y068 or I7Y068.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office could not get a return on the plate number. Sheriff Owen said they believe that the driver may have out-of-state tags. He asked Washington County's residents - both rural and city - to be on the lookout for this individual and call the WCSO immediately.
Sheriff Owen asked the County's citizens to be vigilant. With recent burglaries both in the County and in town, Sheriff Owen said it is becoming apparent that people are coming up from Tulsa or from out-of-state to our area. He said they are working together with the Bartlesville Police Department and other local agencies to bring these crimes to a halt.
If you experience an emergency, you are asked to call 911 immediately. If you have any information pertaining to this case, you can call the non-emergency line at 918.338.4001. The Washington County Sheriff's Office can be reached at 918.332.4000. CrimeStoppers can be reached at 918.336.2583.
