Pawhuska football has advanced to the state semifinals for just the second time since 1964, as the Huskies won in blowout fashion again on Friday night in their quarterfinal matchup against Mooreland.

It was a 44-6 victory over the Bearcats, as Pawhuska is now one win away from the Class A State Championship game.

The first play of the contest didn’t go to script as Pawhuska quarterback Bryce Drummond fumbled the football away to Mooreland.

However, a three and out by the Husky defense would give the ball back to Pawhuska and two plays later Drummond found Dalton Hurd for a long score.

The Huskies were dominant throughout the first half, leading 28-0 heading into the locker room.

This pass from Drummond to Holton Justus to start the second half action all but sealed Mooreland’s fate.

Pawhuska now takes on Cashion, a team that coach Matt Hennessy says has been keeping an eye on all year.

Pawhuska will host that game, as the Huskies won a coin flip, which decided home field advantage. We will bring that game to you on Friday night on KPGM FM 99.1 and KPGMTV.com.
