Taylen Miller’s layup with six seconds left lifted Oklahoma Wesleyan to an 83-82 victory over Kansas Wesleyan on Wednesday night. The Eagles battled back from double-digit deficits on multiple occasions—including being down 79-69 with five minutes remaining.

OKWU closed on a 14-3 run to earn the win. A three-pointer from Brooks Haddock pulled the Eagles within three points at 82-79 with two minutes left. Free throws from Dylan Phillip made it 82-81 Kansas Wesleyan. OKWU would get a defensive stop and set up Miller on an out of bounds play for the win.

Valentin Van Putten would block a Kansas Wesleyan attempt just before the buzzer to secure the win. Miller describes the final sequence.

Miller finished with seven points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals on the night as well. Kazden Ammons emerged with a career-high 19 points to lead the Eagles in scoring on the night. Ammons’ defense was key in the comeback down the stretch as well.

The Eagles move to 12-5 on the season and 9-4 in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference play. OKWU heads on the road Saturday to play McPherson.
