Day two of the area tournament from Fort Gibson will see just one local squad in action. No. 5 Oklahoma Union plays top seed Dale in the area finals with a state tournament bid on the line. Both teams enter the matchup at 3-0 in the postseason.

The Cougars have rolled through Ketchum, Caney Valley and Nowata to get to their second area title game in the last three years. OKU has been one of the state’s best teams over that period of time but has yet to reach the state tournament with this group. The Cougars have not been to state since 2005.

Dale represents the biggest challenge OKU has faced all year. Head coach Lee Ott talks about the matchup.
