Tom Davis
Washington County Emergency Management Director Kary Cox joined us on COMMUNITY CONNECTION on Friday.

Commenting on the recent winter weather event, Director Cox thought we got through it rather good. He did mention the surprise at that the rolling blackouts caused and the miscommunications from the top of the multi-state utility chain that took place leading to some confusion for the middle and at the end of the chain of information. Cox firmly stated that area governments have a very good working relationship with the local and area energy utility providers and are working with them to ensure the lines of communication remain clear moving forward.

Cox reminded listeners that tornado season is upon us and urged everyone to be prepared just in case of severe weather by making sure your flashlights, radios and weather radios have fresh batteries.

As far as COVID-19 is concerned, Cox said the process of rolling out the vaccines is a redious one. From the begining of the process a couple of months ago, Cox cautioned that vaccination supplies and dates for injections could change--and at time, they have.  Cox is confident the process will be less confusing as more vaccines are made and others made by new companies are entering the market to be given to citizens.
