The Nowata County Commissioners discussed several business items at Monday morning’s meeting. The commissioners discussed a business item regarding a Rural Economic Action Plan Grant for the fire alarm system for the courthouse. Chairman Burke LaRue read from the resolution.

The grant would cover $50,000 of reimbursable funds for work on the courthouse. The grant originated in the spring of 2019 when issues were discovered at the Nowata County Courthouse. Installation is expected to begin this week for the fire alarm system.

A separate discussion broke out about where the crews could keep extra materials during the installation. Ultimately it was decided that the Nowata County annex building would be the best spot for storage. It is anticipated that work on the fire alarm system could take up to a month.
