BPS Supt. Chuck McCauley on COMMUNITY CONNECTION

Tom Davis
Bartlesville Public Schools have been open for in-person education for the most part going int the fourth quarter of the school year. Appearing on Wednesday on COMMUNITY CONNECTION, Bartlesville Public Schools Supt. Chuck McCauley was very proud to make that statement.
McCauley said the COVID-19 numbers are down and teachers and staff are in the process of getting fully vaccinated. A report from Pandemic Response Committee chaired by Granger Meador at Monday's school board meeting revealed low isolations & quarantines since in-person learning resumed after the recent cold spell and that 300 staff received initial vaccine dose on February 22 and will have access to a closed event after Spring Break. The date, which is still not firmly set, could result in a distance learning day to accomodate the vaccine schedule.
Graduation will be in-person this year and the prom will likely be an outdoor event, according to McCauley.
The big point Supt. McCauley made on COMMUNITY CONNECTION was to enroll your child. To enroll a student in our district, please contact the appropriate school site for assistance. A variety of forms and information is required. There are six elementary school sites for grades PreK-5 and two middle school sites for grades 6-8. All students in grades 9-12 attend the High School. Click here for school contact information If you are not sure which elementary (PreK-5) or middle school (6-8) serves your street address, you can look up the school serving a street address with edulog. You can also consult the district boundaries map. The district's total enrollment is approximately 6,000 students. Please enroll a student by contacting the appropriate school site. If you have other questions about enrollment, please contact Christie Young at the Education Service Center. Her email address is YoungCM@bps-ok.org and her phone number is (918) 336-8600 ext. 3530.
Supt. Chuck McCauley reviewed what is known so far about the plans for another school bond issue election: Passage would NOT increase the tax rate; Bond issues tracked at BruinBond.com; Operational funding (Technology, Curriculum/STEM/Vo-Ag, Maintenance and Facilities, Safety and Transportation. McCauley added there will site requests considered and that monies, if approved, would go toward building an agriculture center across from the high school and putting in a new running track.
The Bartlesville Public Schools Board of Education is targeting the August 10 date for the bond issue election and the May 17th school board meeting to consider the resolution.
