BPS School Board Special Meeting Highlighted by Site Updates

Tom Davis
Bartlesville Public Schools Board of Education held a special meeting on Thursday for site updates and discussions.
School Board President Scott Bilger was impressed by what was presented by the principals of Bartlesville High School and Hoover and Jane Phillips, Richard Kane and Ranch Heights Elementary schools when it came to meeting the challenges of teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The schools had very similar challenges with students moving back and forth from distance learning to the classroom and missing the help of volunteers in the schools.
The elementary school principals found it surprising how well holding lunch in the classrooms worked out with far fewer discliplinary incidents and student actually eating more of their food.
The principals were also very impressed with the way the students and parents stepped up to take on these challenges over the past year.
Bartlesville High School Principal Ladonna Chancellor reminded everyne that the prom will be on April 24th, outdoors in the school parking lot under a very large tent. Chancellor said the the prom will be for Bartlesville High School Students only so that if a COVD-19 incident occurs, it will be easier for contact tracing in order to minimize any sort of possible outbreak.
