Out of three options, the Tower Green Design Committee unanimously selected clay tile as the concrete color to be poured for the "Native Color at Unity Square" art feature at Unity Square in downtown Bartlesville.

Now that the concrete has been selected, the project can continue to make strides. Terry Lauritsen, Bartlesville's Engineering and Water Utilities Director, said they still have underground work to do for the lights and spray pad system. He said this may be in place within the next week or two.

Once those plans are complete, Lauritsen said crews will finish stacking the rocks that create a boundary of sorts around the art installation. He said they'll then pour the concrete as one of the last steps in the site preparation and get that portion of the project ready.

The artist, Amie Jacobsen with Amie Jacobsen Art and Design out of Kansas City, Missouri, is then scheduled to come back to put finishing touches on her featured art piece. Jacobsen's crews set the frames for the project on Tuesday.

Lauritsen said the project could be complete by late April or early May, weather permitting. He said the Tower Center Management Committee is managing the details for a ceremony to be held once "Native Color at Unity Square" is complete. The ceremony is dependent on how construction goes and when it will be complete.
