A correctional communications services agreement for the Washington County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) has been approved by the County Commissioners.

The agreement between City Tele-Coin Company, Inc. (CTC) and WCSO was under review of the Washington County Commissioners on Monday morning. Sheriff Scott Owen told the Commissioners that this is a rollover contract that is verbatim with last year's contract. He said they have been very satisfied with CTC and its inmate phone services.

Sheriff Owen said the only difference in the contract now is that CTC has raised the commission of the telephone service from 50-percent to 55-percent. He said the IT with the tablets and FaceTime visitation remains the same.

Inmates get to use the service from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Sheriff Owen said they've had minor issues involving inmate behavior, but nothing serious has occurred. He said there are opt-out clauses should the WCSO need to use them, but he doesn't think that will be necessary.

The agreement was unanimously approved by the Commissioners.
