Bartlesville Car Seat Check Event Set for October 4

In an effort to continue to keep children safe in our community, the Washington County Health Department will be partnering with Safe Kids Tulsa for a Car Seat Checkup event on Monday, Oct. 4 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Spirit Church, 2121 S. Madison Blvd.
At this event, you will have the opportunity to learn how to install your child’s car seat or booster seat. You can also find out if it is time for a change for your car seat. Nationally certified car seat technicians will be on-site to show caregivers how to properly install car seats and check those already installed. There is no appointment necessary for a car seat check. If needed there will be a Spanish translator available. If you are on government assistance and can provide proof (WIC, Food Stamps, SoonerCare) there are car seats free of charge available to you (Maximum of 1 seat per child and 2 seats per family).
Car seats available include:
- Rear Facing
- Forward Facing
- Booster Seats
They want parents/guardians and caretakers to understand the proper use of your child’s car seat can mean the difference between life and death. The importance of this event allows you the opportunity to educate yourself on how to properly install the seat as well as when it is time to change the seat based on your child’s growth. Selecting the right car seat will be based on the child’s age, weight, height, and developmental level.
If you are unable to make this event, the Washington County Health Department offers car seat checks by appointment. Their team is eager to assist individuals who are wanting to take the first step in making sure their children are fastened in properly.
To schedule an appointment with the health department, call 918.335.3005.
