Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt has declared Oklahoma as National Disability Employment Awareness Month. He added a proclamation that stated the following:
“The importance of people with disabilities gaining full access to employment opportunities and community engagement.”
Rehabilitation Services Director Milenda Fruendt had this to say regarding disabled Oklahomans:
“In 2018, the employment rate of working-age Oklahomans with disabilities, ages 21 to 64, was 38.7 percent compared to a 79.2 percent employment rate for Oklahomans without disabilities. Our rehabilitation counselors and technicians are dedicated to closing that gap.”
As part of the National Disabilities Employment Awareness Month, the Department of Rehabilitation Services will have a free, online webinar series from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, October 29th.
