The Nowata County Commissioners discussed multiple business items at Monday morning’s meeting. A request for a bid to be let for repairs on the Nowata County Sheriff’s garage roof was approved. Sheriff Jason McLain previously brought up that garage was in needs of repairs at a recent meeting.

Nowata County commissioner chairman Burke LaRue said he had discussed the potential repairs with a contractor. LaRue said he agreed that it would make the most sense to repair the entire roof.

It was announced later in the meeting that a Rural Economic Action Plan grant application for $50,000 was approved. This will help cover costs associated with the repair. Sheriff McLain said depending on how the bids come in he may request funds from the American Rescue Plan Act.

The Sheriff’s office also hired Anna Atkins and Dakota Shufeldt as jailer/dispatchers.
