Tulsa Man Arrested for Alleged Theft in Caney

A Tulsa man is arrested in Kansas for his alleged involvement in a theft at a Dollar General in Caney.
According to a release from the Caney Police Department (CPD), an officer pulled into the parking lot of the store during a routine patrol after observing several people arguing around a truck. Employees had followed three individuals to their vehicle because 18-year-old Bill McCormack allegedly stole a victim's cell phone. When they called the phone, it could be heard ringing inside the truck.
Video footage confirmed that McCormack had stolen the phone from the worker in the store, which was returned to the owner. McCormack was arrested for misdemeanor theft and posted bond. He has been given a court date.
The CPD encourages you to never confront suspects in instances such as this one. They understand a victim's urge to confront a suspect(s), but know it is a dangerous practice. The best course of action is to call law enforcement immediately.
All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
