Capitol Call 5-6-22

Tom Davis
Representatives Judd Strom and Wendi Stearman and Senator Julie Daniels appeared on CAPITOL CALL in Friday to bring constituents up to date on issues at the state capitol.
The highlights included Wendi Stearman talking about the recent passage of Oklahoma's anti-abortion bills. Wendi said she appreciated the world press asking her questions about the bills because she whole-heartedly approved of them.
Senator Daniels brought up the bill that puts the burden on the state to expunge court records of those found not guilty of crimes or have had charges dimissed and certain other aspect related to the law. Until now, the burden was placed on the individual to hire a lawyer to get this accomplished.
Daniels also shared conversation she had with a member of the press over free speech in which the interviewer asked that by supporting free speech, is she also in favor of "weaponizing" speech. Daniels responded, "Do you mean 'weaponizing" free speech by actually having to listen to ideas that don't align with yours?" According to Daniels, the reporter never responded.
Representative Judd Strom has been buried in state budget details, but he did let everyone know that your state hunting and fishing lisences have been changed to reflect the calendar date of a year insted of the state defined year so that you get what you pay for in that respect.
