Students in Dewey Public Schools will soon see a new scoreboard at their football stadium plus help in school resources due to a $10,000 grant from the Arvest Foundation.
Arvest commercial banker Chris Revard presented the check to Dewey superintendent Vince Vincent and members of the the Dewey Public Schools Board at their June school board meeting.
“It is an honor to present this check on behalf of the Arvest Foundation,” said Revard. “We are happy to support the needs of the schools in Dewey.”
The funds from the grant will go toward the purchase of a new football scoreboard and play clocks. In addition, the funds will also be used for curriculum supplies and resources needs of the district.
“The continued support we receive from the Arvest Foundation is absolutely astounding. Not only will this donation assist us with a facility upgrade without the use of district funds, but will also provide funding for teacher grants directly affecting many of our classrooms,” said Vincent.
The mission of the Dewey Public Schools is to create a safe and flexible learning environment that develops the whole student. They focus on skills that are essential for fostering a student-centered learning environment, providing all students the opportunity to acquire the needed skills for successful living and lifelong learning.
The Arvest Foundation seeks to provide funding to grantees who are actively working to create positive change for others. Major areas of focus include: K-12 education, economic development, and enhancing the quality of life throughout the Arvest footprint.
