The addition of more BPD School Resource Officers, rate increases and a new city sales tax collection record for July were the main topics on COMMUNITY CONNECTION on Monday with City Manager Mike Bailey, BPS School Supt. of Schools Chuck McCauley, Assostant Police Chief Rocky Bevard and City Clerk/CFO Jason Munninger.

The city of Bartlesville, the Bartlesville Police Department and Bartlesville Public Schools previously agreed to put school resource officers in each Bartlesville public school.

Through an agreement with the city of Bartlesville, BPS will be responsible for 75 percent of each of the school resource officers' pay since most of their time will be spent at the schools. The district already employs three SROs.

BPS Supt. Chuck McCauley says this is something that was already in the BPS budget, but the recent shootings at a school in Texas and at a medical facility in Tulsa hastened the move.

Utility rate increases approved during the budget process for Fiscal Year 2022-23 will go into effect on July 1. City utility customers can expect to see the new rates reflected on their next bill. Chief Financial Officer/City Clerk:

Water Rates

  • Water base rates will not increase
  • Water incremental rates will decrease by about 3.3 percent
  • Water capital investment fees will increase by about 42 percent

Wastewater Rates

  • Wastewater base rates will increase by about 8 percent
  • Wastewater incremental rates will increase by about 5.7 percent
  • Wastewater capital investment fees will increase by about 27.6 percent

Sanitation Rates

  • Sanitation cart rates will increase by about 5.8 percent
  • Sanitation commercial rates will increase by about 10 percent

The new water rates result in a 2.6 percent increase, wastewater a 12.9 percent increase, and sanitation a 5.8 percent increase. Overall, the new rates will result in a 7.5 percent increase for the average customer.

July sales tax collections bareley set a new record with $85K ip above comparted to budget  and up by about $40K over last year.
